About South Whitley, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

South Whitley was originally called Springfield. Though it has always been a small community it has always been big on community spirit and fellowship. It was laid out in 1837. A post office was established that year using the name Whitley. The post office was renamed “South Whitley” in 1842. It still operates today. This is a testament to the local love for history. The towns in the area cherish and preserve their history whenever they can. This is but one of the reasons that the area is so attractive to families. The safe environment and family-friendly atmosphere, as well as the seasonal weather, make it the ideal Midwestern town to raise a family… or retire.

The South Whitley Fall Fest is the year’s biggest event in the town and hosts many events and contests. As the leaves change and the weather cools, the community comes out to celebrate the harvest, a new school year and everything that autumn has to offer. Check out the town’s beautiful historic buildings and meet some lovely people while you are out. South Whitley is a town steeped in the Midwestern conventional architecture of brick buildings and green, tree-lined streets.

Though the town is a mall and the area is quaint, it is not a “dead” region. There is plenty of new blood and progressive thought in this part of the world. The nearby Huntington University offers students the chance to take part in a number of activities. They are particularly interested in encouraging service opportunities throughout the year - local blood drives, short-term mission experiences, student government and more. The university plans and hosts many annual events including hoedowns, mud volleyball, laser tag, concerts, and “Olympiad” -  a popular 4-day event with various athletic challenges. For every season, Huntington University offers something for the community and gives back in very tangible ways.
